Rain, rain...:(

Sadly, I am making alternate arrangements for tomorrow.  It looks like showers in the morning and a risk of thunderstorm in the morning, so likely not ideal for a day outside on the bike!  Grrr!  Unfortunately, we don’t have another good option for a  back-up day this week.  Anyway, we will still have lots of FUN…it just won’t be on a bike!

Please make sure that your son or daughter brings a change of clothes tomorrow and some cash for DQ.  As long as it’s just a bit of rain, we’ll still play some fun games outside.  They can still bring a water gun if they would like to.  We will plan to walk to DQ, but rather than going for a treat in the afternoon, we will go for lunch (leave the school just after 11am).  If your son or daughter would prefer to bring their own lunch and then just buy a treat at DQ, that’s fine, too.  We will be gone over the lunch hour.

Thanks for being flexible!

6B Science

Here is the link with a selection of photos for your trailer.

"Our Grade 6 Year" Trailer

You are going to work together with 2-6 people to create an iMovie trailer to capture the "story" of our year together in Grade 6!

The first step:
Brainstorm our year in Grade 6.  Think about:
-what we have learned about
-places we have visited
-things you will remember
-parts of our classroom
-funny memories
These albums will help you:
Friendships
Fun
Learning

The second step:
Once you have decided on a theme, print off the appropriate storyboard from this website to help you organize your ideas and thoughts.

The third step:
After you have created a plan, now you can begin collecting your media.  You can use photos, take video and new photos for your content.

Tesselations

PART A: Practice your understanding of mathematical transformations.  Remember: translate = slide, reflect = flip, rotate = turn.  See how many levels you can complete.  They get pretty tricky!

PART B: Watch this video to see how one very famous artist uses Math to create amazing art!  He is the master of tesselations!

PART C: Take a 5 minute brain break and play this old school game that helps you practice Math transformations!

PART D: Now, it's time for you to try creating your own tesselations!  Use this site to create your tesselation.

PART E: If you have already finished creating a number of tesselations using the website, you may want to challenge yourself and use Microsoft Paint (a program on your computer) to create a tesselation.  You can view instructions here.

FOR MATH TODAY (June 12)- Play Part A and you can also try this interactive or this one or this one!

What do you think?

I found this in one of my Writing journals!  I think I was in Grade 2.  What do you think?  Did I have a good idea?

And, a note from today's sub in my daybook. Bravo, bravo...
